Gyasar Revival
Utilising pure resham and zari, the Kinche Gyasar Silk
(Gos Chen in Ladakh) restoration initiative breathes
new life into age-old Tibetan and Benaras textiles.
The Gyasar silk was brought to India by Tibetan
lamas in the middle of the 19th century.
It is said that what is not possible to weave
elsewhere in the country can be woven by
the artisans of Benares.
