How to Protect your Precious heels?

I am not only an ardent collector of shoes but also a protector ! My heart bleeds when my shoe heels get spoilt or peeled.. 

.. and it happens all the time :( 

so in my endeavour to save my precious shoes I have tried many things - 

1) coating my heels with a transparent nail paint = 4/10
2) being careful while walking = 0/10 :(

3) tried various cobblers and shoe repair services = 6/10
